HMSC's 'enlarged family' joins forces with the vocal group His Majestys Consort of Voices, directed from the organ by Gary Cooper, in a performance of Monteverdi's famous Mantuan masterpiece of 1610. If appropriate to your venue, we suggest that candlelight is effective in enhancing the intimate madrigalian character of this music.

10 singers and 12 instrumentalists: 3 cornetts (doubling recorders), 3 sackbuts, 2 violins, cello, chitarrone, double harp and chamber organ.
